“In my ongoing exploration of arboreal worlds, this new work
reveals a shift in my artistic focus to the venerable trees themselves,
rather than solely depicting them as silhouetted references within
a landscape or vista.
Trees now occupy center stage-as if sitting for their portraits.
Striving to capture personality and individual character, I use oils,
spray paint and metal leaf in my attempt to put a contemporary
perspective on this classic theme.” — Jared Rue
